At Greetigram, we’ve always believed there’s no better way to connect with people than through music. Songs become memories, favorite bands become a shorthand for who we are, and when someone gets your taste in music—it’s like they really see you. That’s the magic we try to capture with our rock-and-roll themed video birthday cards.
How the Battle of the Bands Contest Worked
So this summer, we decided to have a little fun and ask our fans a big question:
👉 Who’s your all-time favorite band?
We called it our very first Battle of the Bands Contest, and the response blew us away. Hundreds of people chimed in, casting votes for their favorite icons of rock, pop, hip hop, soul, and beyond. Things even got a little heated—comments like “Where’s Boston?” or “Why is Coldplay on this list?” “Fleetwood Mac over the Stones....please?!” kept rolling in. What we ended up with wasn’t just a leaderboard—it was proof of how deeply these legendary bands still resonate across generations.
🏆 The Final Results
After tallying up all the votes, the Beatles landed on top (shocking… but also not shocking at all according to many voters). More than half a century after changing the course of popular music, the Fab Four still hold the crown as the world’s favorite band.
Right behind them? Led Zeppelin—proof that guitar riffs and thunderous drums never go out of style. And in third place, the eternally swaggering Rolling Stones, who still manage to “satisfy” fans after six decades.
From there, the list kept rolling: Fleetwood Mac, Queen, Black Sabbath, Kiss, Boston, Judas Priest, Nirvana, Metallica, Pink Floyd, AC/DC, and many more. We even saw passionate votes for artists like the Grateful Dead, Phish, Elvis, Dolly Parton, Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, and Prince—a reminder that musical love crosses genres and generations.
🎶 A Closer Look at the Legends
🥇 The Beatles
Formed in Liverpool in 1960, the Beatles weren’t just a band—they were a cultural revolution. With classics like Hey Jude, Let It Be, and Yesterday, they changed the sound of popular music forever. They were the first to play stadium shows, the first to lead the British Invasion in America, and the first to make albums (Sgt. Pepper’s, Abbey Road) as cohesive art. More than 600 million records sold later, their influence is still unmatched.
🥈 Led Zeppelin
From 1968 until their breakup in 1980, Zeppelin made hard rock mythic. Jimmy Page’s riffs and Robert Plant’s vocals powered Whole Lotta Love and Stairway to Heaven. They defied radio rules by focusing on full albums, not singles, and became one of the most successful live acts in history. Their legacy is the DNA of heavy rock itself.
🥉 The Rolling Stones
Since 1962, the Stones have been the embodiment of rock ’n’ roll swagger. Mick Jagger’s moves, Keith Richards’ riffs, and their rebellious edge made them icons. With anthems like Jumpin’ Jack Flash, Start Me Up, and Paint It Black, they’ve soundtracked rebellion for six decades and are still touring today.
Fleetwood Mac
What started as a blues band in the ’60s became one of the biggest rock acts of the ’70s. When Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham joined, Fleetwood Mac turned heartbreak into Rumours—one of the best-selling albums of all time. With songs like Dreams and Go Your Own Way, their harmonies and drama still resonate across TikTok trends and vinyl collections.
Queen
Freddie Mercury’s voice. Brian May’s guitar. Stadium anthems like Bohemian Rhapsody and We Will Rock You. Queen blurred genres, bringing opera, rock, and glam into something bigger than the sum of its parts. Their 1985 Live Aid performance remains one of the greatest live shows ever.
Black Sabbath
Ozzy Osbourne and crew didn’t just make heavy music—they invented heavy metal. With Paranoid, Iron Man, and War Pigs, they turned darkness into art and inspired generations of bands. Birmingham may have been their hometown, but their influence is global.
Kiss
More than a band, Kiss were a spectacle. Fire, face paint, blood, explosions—and, oh yeah, songs like Detroit Rock City and Rock and Roll All Nite. They redefined what a rock concert could be, turning every show into a circus of fun.
Boston
In 1976, Boston’s debut album became one of the best-selling debuts in U.S. history. With More Than a Feeling, they perfected polished arena rock. Founder Tom Scholz, an MIT engineer, famously built their sound in his basement.
Judas Priest
From Breaking the Law to Living After Midnight, Judas Priest gave heavy metal its leather and steel identity. Rob Halford’s soaring vocals and twin guitar attack cemented them as metal pioneers.
The Grateful Dead
The ultimate jam band, the Dead turned concerts into journeys. With Truckin’, Ripple, and Friend of the Devil, they captured the free-spirited energy of the ’60s. Their community of “Deadheads” remains one of the most passionate fanbases in music history.
🎁 From Contest to Cards
We promised to honor the fan votes—and we meant it. So, to celebrate:
-
We just released a brand-new Beatles Birthday Video Card (because how could we not?).
-
We added an Elton John card to the lineup—because one UK legend isn’t enough.
-
We’re continuing to expand our collection, with Led Zeppelin and Fleetwood Mac on the horizon.
And of course, we already feature cards inspired by the Grateful Dead, Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, Prince, Snoop Dogg, The Doors, Elvis, Phish, David Byrne/Talking Heads, and more.
Each card is a quick, fun, personalized video greeting you can send instantly by text or email. Add your own message, photo, or short clip, and the card becomes a gift in itself—something funny, musical, and unforgettable.
💌 Why It Matters
In a world of throwaway texts and generic birthday posts, sending someone a personalized video card that actually rocks is a way to stand out. It’s a way to show you know their vibe. And nothing says “happy birthday” quite like a card featuring their favorite band jamming out on screen.
Music brings us together, and at Greetigram, we’re just here to make it easier (and more fun) to celebrate the people you love with the music they love.
🚀 What’s Next
The Battle of the Bands may be over, but we’re just getting started. We’ll keep adding more legendary artists—based on your votes, your favorites, and the bands that shaped your playlists.
Because birthdays come every year. But a card that makes someone feel seen? That lasts forever.
